Welcome to Unknown Horizons
Status Update and Release News
Hey everyone,
welcome to this status update for Unknown Horizons! This is a small overview of our most recent development to keep you posted.
Performance
Together with helios from the FIFE team, gscai worked on improving our in-game performance. This resulted in the average framerate going up by a factor of 3 on large maps! Prepare for a much smoother game experience :)
If using a frame limit, this might even be the first time Unknown Horizons does not fry your CPU -- but no guarantees on that one yet.
Graphics and User Interface
We've been working on our user interface a lot, to allow for easier navigation in the main menus and a better overview of your production buildings. Check out the new production overview:

Daniel improved all our road graphics to allow better tiling (which was suggested in our forums). He is also working on new ground tiles. We are optimistic that we will be able to ship them with the next release. Current work-in-progress screenshot featuring the new roads:

Upcoming Release
We are planning to release our next version 2012.2 in the coming weeks. There is no fixed deadline yet, but we still hope to ship it in November. If you want to speed up the process and help us, get your hands on the newest development version and take it for a spin. Tell us what you think on IRC or our forums and especially report any bugs you find: http://bugs.unknown-horizons.org/
Tell us what you think
We recently made our hotkeys configurable and noticed that we still call the hotkey screen "Help". To fix this, we would like your input:
What do you expect to happen when you click Help in Unknown Horizons?
Drop all your ideas and suggestions in the forums: http://forum.unknown-horizons.org/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=953
That was it for today's update, stay tuned for more!
